New Territories

The New Territories make up most of Hong Kong's land area, and most of it is startlingly green — country parks, fishing villages, and market towns that existed centuries before the skyscrapers arrived.

Sai Kung

Often called Hong Kong's "back garden": a peninsula of hiking trails, beaches and a seafood-restaurant-lined waterfront, with boats out to the surrounding islands.

Tai Po & the Plover Cove area

Home to one of the region's oldest markets and a large reservoir hemmed in by hills, popular for cycling and long walks.

Tsuen Wan & the western New Territories

A mix of new towns and older walled villages, including some of the best-preserved Hakka walled settlements in the region.
