Hong Kong hotel rooms run small by international standards, which matters more than usual when travelling with children — a few areas and hotel types consistently work better for families.

Near the theme parks

Hotels around Hong Kong Disneyland on Lantau and near Ocean Park on the Island's south side often have larger rooms built for families, plus an easier bedtime if you don't want to travel far after a big theme-park day.

Serviced apartments

For stays of a week or more, a serviced apartment with a small kitchen and separate sleeping area is usually both cheaper and considerably less cramped than stacking two hotel rooms.

What to prioritise

• Room configuration over brand — ask specifically about bed sizes and any rollaway/cot options before booking.
• Proximity to an MTR station with lift access, not just stairs.
• A pool, if travelling in the hot, humid summer months.
