Visa & entry requirements — Totally Hong Kong

Hong Kong maintains its own immigration policy, separate from mainland China, and is visa-free for a large number of nationalities for stays ranging from 7 to 180 days depending on passport.

Who needs a visa

Passport holders from the UK, most of the EU, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and many other countries can enter visa-free for tourism, typically for 30 to 90 days. Nationals of some countries do require a visa or an online pre-arrival registration — always check against your specific passport before booking flights, since allowances vary by nationality and can change.

What you'll need on arrival

A passport valid for the length of your intended stay (Hong Kong does not require the common "6 months validity" buffer, but airlines may still ask for it).
Proof of onward or return travel, occasionally requested.
A filled arrival slip if you're not using e-Channel/automated clearance.

Entering from mainland China or Macau

Hong Kong is a separate customs and immigration territory. Crossing from Shenzhen or Macau means clearing a full immigration checkpoint, even though no visa is usually required for short onward stays.
