Tai Po, up close

Tai Po sits on the New Territories' northeastern coast, an old market town whose historic core still functions much as it did generations ago, even as new-town development has grown up around it.

Tai Po Market

One of the oldest markets in Hong Kong, still trading in fresh produce, meat and household goods much as it has for over a century, alongside the newer Hong Kong Railway Museum housed in the old Tai Po Market railway station building.

Plover Cove Reservoir

A large reservoir formed by damming off a former sea inlet, now a popular spot for cycling and long waterside walks, with a bicycle path running much of its perimeter.

Access to the wider New Territories

Tai Po's position on the MTR East Rail Line makes it a practical base for exploring the northeastern New Territories, including onward routes toward Plover Cove Country Park.
