Urban parks & green spaces

Distinct from the country parks covered in our hiking guide, Hong Kong's urban parks are smaller, landscaped green spaces built directly into the densest parts of the city — genuinely useful as a short break between sightseeing rather than a destination in themselves.

Hong Kong Park

Built on the site of former British military barracks in Admiralty, this park mixes landscaped gardens with a walk-through aviary and a small conservatory, an unexpectedly green pocket surrounded by some of the city's tallest towers.

Kowloon Park

A large park in Tsim Sha Tsui, with a public swimming pool complex, an aviary, and Kung Fu Corner, which hosts free martial-arts demonstrations on Sunday afternoons.

Victoria Park

Covered in more detail in our Causeway Bay guide, this is the largest park on Hong Kong Island, used for everything from morning tai chi to major annual events.

Smaller pocket parks

Beyond the major named parks, Hong Kong has a large number of smaller pocket parks and sitting-out areas tucked between buildings — rarely a specific destination, but useful to know exist when you need a bench and some shade.
